The First Coptic Orthodox Liturgy in Dominican Republic

By the Grace of God we are now progressing with the development of a Coptic Orthodox Church in the Dominican Republic.
On October 21, 2014, H.G. Bishop Youssef arrived and the first Liturgy service was celebrated with joy and thanksgiving along with H.G Bishop Youannes on our new land in Puerto Plata. It was a blessed day filled with joy and peace spent with wonderful company. We thank God and ask that He may bless this new land and service for His Holy Name through the intercessions of St. Mary and St. Mark.

H.H. Pope Tawadros II welcomed the Consuls and Ambassadors of Latin American

On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, H.H. Pope Tawadros II along with H.G. Bishop Youssef Bishop of Bolivia, H.G. Bishop Bola Bishop of Tanta and the Public Relations, H.G. Bishop Aghason Bishop of Brazil welcomed the Consuls and Ambassadors of Latin American in the Cathedral, in Cairo, Egypt.

Santa Verena Coptic Orthodox Church in Santa Rosa

On October 4, 2014, His Grace Bishop Youssef went to our new land in Santa Rosa, Bolivia and met with the community. H.G. gave a small spiritual word to the people followed by a question and answer period. Also, during this visit, H.G. announced to the community about the first church that will be built there with the Grace of God under the name of St. Verena. The people were very joyful and excited about the church being built in their community. At the same time, the servants organized some activities for all the children who were present which were about 50. During the time of the activities, H.G. Bishop Youssef met with all the parents of those children.
Santa Rosa is approximately 2 hours away from St. Mary and St. Mark’s Cathedral by car. Through the intercessions of St. Mary and St. Verna, may their prayers be with us and the new land where the church will be built.

St. Mark’s translators Group in Bolivia

“Out of Egypt I called my Son.” Matt 2:14
On September 18, 2014, arrived in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and began their service under the auspice of H.G. Bishop Youssef. They presented the Egyptian culture on Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Plaza de los Estudiants, downtown Santa Cruz. The group presented a traditional dance, a movie about the appearances of St. Mary, the life of Anba Antonious the father of Monks, the Egyptian culture and a map of the Holy Family in Egypt. They also displayed Pharaonic statues and Egyptian plates to taste the culture.
On Friday, September 26, 2014, the same was presented in the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Mark´s Coptic Orthodox Church.
In addition, they prepared some activities in Juguemos a Aprender daycare and St. Abraam daycare. The group also organized a lot of different activities for the kids, youth, graduates, and women in the church of St. Mary and St. Joseph, Valle Sanchez, Archangel Michael in Paquio, St. Philopateer in Montero, St. George church in Santa Cruz and St. Verena church in Santa Rosa village. They visited an orphanage and prepared food for the homeless.
St. Mark’s translators is the first group to come from Egypt. May God bless them and all their hard work and may the Lord reward them in heavenly rewards through the prayers of St. Mary and St. Mark, the prayers of H.H. Pope Tawadros II who encrouged them through every step and the prayers of H.G. Bishop Youssef who created this group since 2006.

H.G. Bishop Youssef’s Visit to Peru

His Grace Bishop Youssef, Bishop of Bolivia and Father Andrawes El Antony went to Lima, Peru on September 13, 2014 and prayed Liturgy there for peace in the Middle East. A few Ambassadors from many different countries attended as well as a representative on behalf of the government of Peru. Also, present was our Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Salama, our Consul Dr. Mena Baseely, a Bishop of an Anglican church and some of the Fathers of his church, Father Sergio as a representative of our sister Greek Orthodox church and the president of the Egyptian community. After the Liturgy, we had Aghaby as His Grace Bishop Youssef presented gifts to all who attended. During this visit, His Grace Bishop Youssef visited the Embassy, his Coptic children in Lima and looked for a new land to build a church under the name of St. Mary and St. Mark.
