This morning, we celebrated the resurrection feast with the church’s children and young adults. Our fathers along with the youth of the church provided a short theme about our special holiday, hymns, a drama, and trivia games. In the evening, it was the youth’s turn to sing hymns, contemplate a word from Sayedna about our own resurrection, and to enjoy games and a barbeque. Akhristos Anesti!!! Alisos Anesti.
Saturday evening, the Easter liturgy we prayed wholeheartedly under the auspice of his Grace Bishop Youssef, as we were all eagerly awaiting and reliving the resurrection of our Lord. Under the shadow of His wings, the congregation of the cathedral “Santa Maria y San Marcos”, the church of San Miguel in the village of Paquió, Valle Sanchez’s congregation “Santa Maria y San Jose”, and our most recently joined parishioners of “San Philopateer y Santa Mejraíl” in Montero joined together as one body in Christ’s resurrection. We also were blessed by the gift of peace, as the Bolivian ambassador of Egypt his excellence Hisham Abl El-Wahab and the Consul Sherif Badrawy, attended the liturgy as well. After the liturgy, we all embraced the joy of the Lord’s resurrection through an agape, video of the Easter Papal Message, chorus, and, of course, pictures!
“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.” 1 Corinthians 10:23
What a blessed weekend! This Sunday was the beginning of our annual spiritual retreat for the youth, highlighting the theme of freedom in Christ. It was such a blessing for our youth to be able to stay in the cathedral during these three days. After liturgy, we enjoyed a coffee, breakfast, and each other’s company as we got settled. After lunch, we split into groups and each group focused on the theme of freedom as presented in the gospel of each Sunday of Lent and later presented our thoughts in a circle where Dr. Naguib of Texas’s missionary group joined us. We then enjoyed contemplations by the fathers as they revealed the ‘Truth which was to set us free’. After activities, we had dinner and watched the film “Fireproof”. The second day, we celebrated liturgy, learned hymns from the first, second, third, and fourth hoos, enjoyed another spiritual talk, contemplated the meaning behind 1 Corinthians 10:23-11:7 in groups, and prepared for a talent show!! Towards the end of the show, we were blessed with the safe arrival of Dr. Victor and family from Ontario, Canada, where they, of course, got to participate as well. ? The third day, after liturgy, we had fun with water balloons and spray-foam, continued learning songs and contemplating on the theme, and prepared shows and posters with our groups in order to reflect on all that we had learned. Not only did the Truth set us free this weekend, but this was a retreat that truly gave us time to reflect on our freedom and how it affects others. Special thanks to our medical missionaries for preparing nourishment for us each day. May God bless you abundantly for having shared Christ’s love with us!
